The Highway Loss Data Institute says texting bans in four states did not reduce crashes, and in three states crashes actually increased. U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood erupted on his own blog labeling the report "misleading."
Just because the law isn't directly affecting crash stats doesn't mean it isn't a good one.
For example, I still support background checks on handguns, even though I know the true nutjobs won't acquire their guns by legal means.
It's just a nice thought so we can all sleep/drive safely and justify more government. You like that, don't you, Comrade?
