For the first time since 1998, UAW workers are striking against General Motors. After 20 days of yakking, the 11:00 am (EST) strike deadline passed.and the workers have walked out. Why? GM (and Ford and ChryslerCerebus) are desperate to unload their massive (some might argue crippling) health care costs. The UAW agreed in principle to the creation of a health care trust fund, that automakers would seed with money and the UAW would administer. The sticking point? The UAW asked GM not to send jobs to Mexico and/or China. GM would not agree to that. At the risk of being called a Bolshevik, I'll just lay my opinion bare: Right on, brothers. You?
