I'll nominate a local favorite, Jerico Racing. Jerico is a northern Brazilian slang for mule, and when someone refers to a vehicle as a Jerico, they mean a makeshift vehicle, usually made from wood and not expected to last for a long time or to do anything other than basic rural work.

Obviously, it didn't take long for someone to put two Jericos against each other on a pit full of mud and call it a race. so, you know, get shitfaced, climb aboard your wooden box with engine and wheels and try not to smash too much into things before reaching the finish line. If that's not a redneck motorsport, I don't know what is...
