Green Day—'Boulevard of Broken Dreams'

Traffic sucks, so why not start your morning off with some music? You provide the toast and we’ll provide the jams.

Here’s the soundtrack to my early teenage years. It was a time when many of my then-classmates who are now hipsters were in their “emo” phases, wearing dark clothing and lamenting how Green Day has sold their soul. “I liked Green Day before they went mainstream” was a phrase I heard far too often.

Mainstream or not, I remain a fan of this song.

I saw Green Day in Seattle in the mid 90's, (after they were mainstream). Great show but the crowd was mostly young teenage pop-punk mutts who had just gotten their first taste of rebellion by arguing with their parents (who picked them up and hour later).
