GM's man of chair and executive of the chiefly office, Rick Wagoner, has a new title: head assuager of our darkest fears. Wagoner announced yesterday the company will indeed resume plans for a new line of rear-wheel-drive cars that include the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac G8. Last month, vice chair Bob Lutz had said the project had been put on hold (sorry, that they'd hit the "pause button.") while the company sussed out the potential for restrictive government standards on fleet mileage. Wagoner also used his pedestal to chide the feds for the lack of a comprehensive energy policy, which would, assumedly, prevent the corporate heart attacks that occur as volatile gas prices screw with their plans. Yeah, us too.
