Fundraiser For Family Of Young Miata Fan Now Extremely Close To Goal

On Monday night, we brought you the story of the fundraising effort for the family of Thomas Jost, the 19-year-old Miata fan who died of a rare disease last weekend. Bolstered by our post and one from our friends at Autoblog, the GoFundMe for Jost's family is now at $18,225 of its $20,000 goal.

That's an mind-blowing increase from last Saturday, when the effort was at just about $2,000.

You guys are amazing. The car community is amazing. I may not have known Jost or his family, but I'm grateful for your generosity, and I'm positive they are too.

I'm writing this update in hopes that we can push the fundraiser to its goal. I bet we can do it. And if you can't donate, just keep Jost's family and friends in your thoughts.

Once again, Jalops, Autoblog readers, and everyone else who chipped in — thanks for being awesome.

Go here to donate.

Update: They reached the goal, with $200 to spare as of this writing! Thanks again for pitching in, everyone.
