Ford released an image of the Equator concept it plans to reveal at the Toyko motor show in a couple of weeks. The Equator, powered by a 3.0-liter V6, is a small SUV — presumably for a global market — that will likely hint at Ford's next Escape 4x4. Lots of loose talk has been bandied about the auto-journalist cigar bar and tea society lately about the Escape being a new C1-platform sibling of the new Land Rover Freelander and upcoming replacement for the Mazda Tribute (along with other FoMoCo small cars like the Volvo S40, European Focus and Mazda3). We'd bet our Earl Gray on that.
