The sources are a' sourcing — the leakers are a' leaking. Edmunds Inside Line sources say GM is close to a production version of the 2006 Camaro concept unveiled in Detroit, which is, in turn, close to being greenlighted by GM execs. Either way, the new model won't arrive until the 2010 model year, though it may be accompanied with a few more rear-drivers, including a replacement for the Impala, inspired by the car's 1965-'67 predecessors and, the following year, by new Pontiac and Buick models (Firebird? Wildcat?). The cars' base engine will likely be the 3.9-liter V6 with a 5.3-liter V8 optional (along with an LS6 for a likely Camaro SS), along with six-speed automatic. Set those clock radios now.
