Some drunk revelers at a backyard party near Birmingham, England thought it would be fun to point a laser at a helicopter flying over their house. Unfortunately for them, that helicopter belonged to the National Police Air Service, who walked a beat cop to their house with impressive efficiency.
Laser strikes can temporarily blind pilots, which is obviously dangerous while operating an aircraft. In the U.S., where laser strikes are a felony, 3,960 laser incidents were reported in 2013. This past March, a California man was sentenced to 14 years in prison for pointing a laser at a helicopter belonging to the Fresno Police Department.
