It's possible Saab's new sports coupe concept will be named after the Norwegian forest cat known to 1970s Saab fans as the Sonett. It won't, however, be related (outside of marriage) to the Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky, Opel GT, or any other GM roadster existing or planned. Instead, it'll incorporate an entirely new design direction — penned at GM's European design studio — that'll inform the Saab line in coming years. The "Sonett" will be around the size of an Aston Martin DB9, according to Edmunds Inside Line, and reportedly be built on the Opel OPC platform. GM's design chief Bryan Nesbitt (think: PT Cruiser, HHR) is responsible for the new design direction, which may or may not be inspired by cars built after 1949. (C'mon, we kid the Nesbitt!)
