I can attest to the heightened danger to pedestrians of noiseless cars. About 15 years ago there was an electric car in my neighborhood, and when I was running I almost got whacked a few times when it pulled up behind me in the street. I was used to judging when it was safe to cross in part by sound, and the car was almost completely silent. I'm sorry to say I don't know what it was. It looked low and swoopy and somewhat Lotus-like. Kit car, maybe?
