Technically mobile phones have had applications installed since the 1980s with simple calendar, clock and calculator inclusions, but it took until the iPhone’s arrival in 2007 for the apps we know to be apps today. I am of the age that I came up learning how to get from one place to another by reading maps in a pre-internet age, then learned printing out turn-by-turn directions from Mapquest, and now I can just push buttons and follow the blue line.
