Whoa! Our inbox just lit up like the Christmas tree at Englishtown raceway, with company press releases and tips from site editors and bloggers we know, perfect strangers and people who may not even exist. The news is this: Audi just announced its new sports car, based on its LeMans concept (pictured) will be called the Audi R8. The six-figure supercar will go into series production in late 2006 at Audi s plant in Neckarsulm, Germany, with a mid-2007 release date scheduled. The new screamer is reported to have a twin-turbo variant of the Lamborghini 5.0-liter V10, producing 610 horsepower and 553 ft.lbs of torque. Thanks to all who hit "send" with us in mind. You know who you are.
