Using a car shipping broker can help you find the lowest rates for your next vehicle move. A good broker can also help make the entire shipping process easier. And while there are many auto transport companies that fulfill this role, few have as positive a reputation among customers as GetCarrier.

Our team wanted to see whether GetCarrier auto transport services live up to the company’s online reviews, so we took an in-depth look at its costs and industry ratings to see how it stacks up against the best car shipping companies. This is what we found.

Why Trust Our Review Team Our review team has spent hundreds of hours researching car shipping companies to help consumers choose the best providers for transporting their vehicles. GetCarrier Reviews

GetCarrier has some notable drawbacks, like limited service selection and a few quirks with its quote tool. However, the company has an impressive reputation with customers. The rates we found with the broker are also very competitive for the vehicle transport industry.

We feel comfortable recommending GetCarrier auto transport for people who aren’t too fussy about their car shipping needs. You won’t have a ton of options for how you ship your car, but you will have a simple, straightforward quote process. And by nearly all accounts, you’ll have professional representatives to help you through the rest of the shipping process, too.

These reviews reflect many of the GetCarrier complaints we saw online.

GetCarrier Auto Transport: BBB Ratings

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) gives GetCarrier a B rating. This rating is based on a company’s handling of customer complaints and indicates that GetCarrier does a reasonable job in that department.

By and large, customer reviews for GetCarrier auto transport are very positive. On the customer review portion of the BBB website, in which car shippers typically fare pretty poorly, GetCarrier has an average rating of 4.6 out of 5.0 stars. The company has a similarly impressive average of 4.7 out of 5.0 stars on Trustpilot, where 97 percent of all reviews are 4.0 or 5.0 stars.

Is GetCarrier Legit?

GetCarrier is a car shipping broker based in Dover, Delaware. According to the BBB, the company has only been operating for three years. But in that time, GetCarrier auto transport services have amassed hundreds of mostly positive customer reviews on the BBB and over a thousand on others, like Trustpilot.

Some car shipping brokers try to offer as many options as possible to net a wide range of customers. But GetCarrier auto transport takes a different approach. Instead, the company uses a streamlined method that offers an easy, user-friendly experience that makes it simple to get car shipping quotes online.

GetCarrier Auto Transport Cost

Our research team requested a quote from GetCarrier to ship a 2018 Subaru Impreza from Raleigh, North Carolina, to Los Angeles, a distance of 2,542 miles. Oddly enough, there was a small quirk with the shipping dates in our research. Every offer listed the pickup and delivery dates as the same day, which would be impossible for this distance.

Among all the instant offers we received, the average quoted rate was $1,661. That means the average shipping cost for GetCarrier auto transport for this shipment was just over $0.65 per mile.

The most affordable offer was from GetCarrier Logistics, the shipping broker’s own transport company, for $1,393. The highest offer we received was from Car Ship Central for $1,806.

However, after generating instant quotes, we received text and voicemail messages offering us lower rates. One text offered a rate of $1,100 for the same service. While GetCarrier did reach out quickly and send multiple text messages, replying “STOP” via text ended the sales calls and texts.

It’s also important to note that GetCarrier auto transport comes with a $75 service fee for each shipment. Be sure to figure that into the estimates you receive.

Average Cost To Ship A Car

GetCarrier auto transport rates compare favorably to national averages. Our research shows that cross-country car shipments range from $1,389 to $2,775. According to data from uShip, which works with over 40,000 active movers, these are the average car shipping rates for other moves:

  • Average cost per mile, under 200 miles: $2.92
  • Average cost per mile, over 1,000 miles: $0.78
  • Average car shipping cost overall: $500–$1,000

GetCarrier Auto Transport Cost Factors

There’s more to car shipping cost than just distance. Car carriers determine your rates using a number of variables.

Here are some of the most important factors in the cost of GetCarrier auto transport:

  • Shipping options: Open transport is cheaper but leaves your car exposed to the elements and road debris. An enclosed carrier keeps your car protected but costs significantly more.
  • Shipping time frame: If you need your car shipped ASAP and are firm about dates, you’ll have to pay more.
  • Vehicle condition: Inoperable vehicles cost more to ship.
  • Vehicle type: In general, the larger or more expensive your vehicle is, the more it will cost to ship.
  • Cost of fuel: Gasoline and diesel fuel are some of the primary expenses for car shippers.
  • Time of year: Demand for car shipping is at its highest in January and in the summer, so you can expect prices to be at their highest then, too.

GetCarrier Auto Transport Quotes Process

It’s easy to get an estimate for GetCarrier auto transport. The company’s website has a user-friendly interface with simple steps for generating quotes.

  1. Enter your pickup and delivery locations.
  2. Specify whether you need a certain delivery or pickup date or if you’re flexible.
  3. Provide the make, model, and year of your vehicle and your email address and phone number for contact information.
  4. After you submit your information, you’ll get a few car shipping quotes from auto transport carriers instantly.

GetCarrier Auto Transport Services

One area where GetCarrier auto transport does lag behind competitors is in the selection of car shipping services it offers. Limiting the number of vehicle shipping options probably helps the company keep such a streamlined quotes process, but it can also ward off potential customers.

With GetCarrier auto transport, you don’t get to choose between terminal-to-terminal shipping and door-to-door shipping. You also don’t have the option to ship anything other than a standard vehicle. That means no RVs, motorcycles, or ATVs.

When we tried to request an instant quote for shipping a car to Hawaii, the system said it could not give us one. It was, however, able to give us quotes to ship a car to Alaska.

Additionally, while the quote tool allowed us to ask for enclosed auto transport quotes, we only received quotes for open carrier service. This could just be due to availability, but other reviews online mention similar experiences.

GetCarrier: Conclusion

We rated GetCarrier 4.0 out of 5.0 stars because of its great customer experience and prices. We recommend it as a solid option for your car shipping needs. If you are not convinced, check out some of their competitors.

GetCarrier Auto Transport: FAQ

Below are some frequently asked questions about GetCarrier auto transport:

How We Rate Auto Shippers

Our review process aims to deliver consistent and unbiased assessments of car shipping companies. While there are multiple qualities that make an auto transport provider successful, our review team focuses on those we believe are the most important for consumers:

  • Cost: Cost can be difficult to compare between providers because so many factors impact auto shipping rates. To determine our cost score, we perform a secret shopper analysis for a variety of vehicles and routes.
  • Services: Our team of experts looks at the types of services available, as well as insurance coverage and the ability to guarantee pickup and drop-off dates. Ratings also take into account whether the transport company is a broker or a carrier.
  • Reputation: It’s important that a car shipping provider is able to deliver your vehicle in a safe and timely manner. Companies with a strong rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) score well in this category. Established providers with a long history of reliable service also receive positive marks.
  • Customer Experience: We comb through consumer reviews on sites like the BBB to learn about customer experiences. Car transport companies with a low volume of complaints score well in this area.
