When Lamborghini replaced the legendary Diablo with the Murcielago in 2001 they ended the model's 11 year run with 40 individually numbered Special Edition cars. The final 40 cars were all individually numbered Diablo 6.0 VTs equipped with AWD and a 550 horsepower V12.
Of those cars, the Diablo pictured here was #40, making it the last Lamborghini Diablo ever made. Half of the final 40 cars were painted "Oro Elios" or Sunrise Gold and the other half were painted "Marrone Eklipse" or Sunset Maroon like the Diablo seen here. Not surprisingly both colors were exclusive to the final model run.
The last Diablo, which has a mere 12 miles on it, will be sold with No Reserve during prime time on Saturday January 21 at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale. The auction company has not released a pre-auction estimate but we feel pretty safe saying the last Diablo ever made would bring an unbelievable price even if it wasn't in pristine condition with only 12 miles on the odometer. We can't wait to see what this one brings.
