Created to explore the concept of automobile as safe personal space, the idea behind the Vanipiller is for visitors to climb into its cozy belly and, for a moment, be safe from the judgmental stares of square-framed art gallery visitors.

"Project 92" as the Vanipiller is formally known was made by Chinese artist Yin Xiuzhen who split a van in half and added the articulated center tunnel made from found clothing. The interior is complete with little stools, mood lighting and elevator music. [MoMa]
