Welcome to Down On The Street, where we admire old vehicles parked on the streets of the Island That Rust Forgot: Alameda, California. Lurking around the local Volvo shop gave us this 262C Bertone... and now this genuinely sporty Volvo.

This 1800E- which could be a '70, '71, or '72 model- looks just about as nice as it's possible for a street-driven 39-year-old car to be.

The wheels are kind of a turn-off, but these cars are sporty and last forever. I met the guy who put over 2.3 Million on his 1800, which I think is a '69, so far, and he's still driving it. He's got all of these badges from Volvo on his car.
