A 34-year-old who just passed his driving test crashed into a state driver license center in western Pennsylvania. The accident happened Wednesday afternoon as the man was trying to leave the parking lot. Seriously. [AP]
Jeez. This is why I am all for making getting your license so much more difficult. I'd even be up for having to actually take a test every time you had to renew your license. Maybe we should make it every 2 or 4 years you have to take the drivers test again in order to continue driving. This is really getting out of hand. People on the road need to learn to drive. Mercedes needs to take out their ridiculous lane aware/active cruise/brake assistance bullshit. Those commercials are ridiculous:
"I didn't realize the person infront of me had slammed on his brakes." Well maybe you should have been paying more attention instead of twittering about how awesome your new car was
"I was starting to fall asleep and didn't realize I was drifting into the next lane" well you should probably have pulled over about 45 minutes ago and taken a nap before continuing driving.
Mercedes and any other company virtually automating their cars are just perpetuating our inability to drive safely.
Sorry for the rant, but srsly, people who don't know how to drive should not be licensed to drive, at all. Senior Citizens who cannot operate a car safely should not be licensed to drive. Stupid people should not be licensed to drive.
