3 Doors Down Bassist Todd Harrell Charged With Vehicular Homicide

Todd Harrell, the bass player for rock outfit 3 Doors Down, was arrested early this morning and charged with intoxication manslaughter following a crash that killed another driver, according to news reports.

The AP reports that Harrell — pictured above at center at a 2011 NASCAR race in Texas — was arrested in Nashville following a crash that killed 47-year-old Paul Howard Shoulders Jr.

A Metropolitan Nashville Police Department release said Harrell was driving through a Nashville suburb at high speed in his 2011 Cadillac CTS when he clipped Shoulders' pickup truck, which went down an embankment and flipped over. Shoulders was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the truck. Harrell's car stopped about a quarter mile away.

The release said Harrell seemed impaired and admitted to drinking "hard cider" with the painkiller Lortab and Xanax. He also had more pills when he was searched at the jail, it said.

Harrell remains jailed with bond set at $100,000.
