Did you know one of Subaru's first offering in the US was a van? This van. The 1969 Subaru 360 Van was a sub-1000-lb Kei-car import and Subaru Performance Tuning has turned this one into a parts-runner.
Powered by a momentous 356cc two-stroke, two-cylinder, air-cooled engine belting out a prodigious 25 HP and 25.3 lb-ft of torque (the 0.3 is important, it's 1.1% of total torque) hooked up to a four speed manual and delivering acceleration best described as suicidal, all while returning a hybrid-embarrassing 66 MPG. This one's outfitted for parts running for Las Vegas-area Subaru's in-house performance shop, where the motto is "Fast Parts, Slow Delivery." We like this very much.
DISCUSSION
Whoa. Whoawhoawhoawhoawhoa.
Are you telling me that there are legal kei vans in the US right now? Is this the only model? Can someone point me to a list of road-legal kei vans? These things are my kryptonite and I need to know what to search for. There are guys who import newer Japanese cast-offs, but they're not eligible to be registered.
I need one. #subaru
