The 2011 Mercedes CL — the basis for the next-gen AMG CL65 — was spotted by spy photographers stripped of most of its camo. Thankfully, the new CL fared better in the sun than in the snow.

The CL is a fine automobile, but it's the CL65 AMG we care most obsessed about so we're pleased the big Mercedes coupe will get the same edgy treatment found on the new 2010 Mercedes E-Class. This includes a sharper new grille, more detailed hood (notice the lines), the boomerang LEDs in the front clip and crisper LED headlamps. In addition to these family generational trends, the CL600 appears to benefit from a revised exhaust, reshaped trunk and integrated reverse lights.

As for power, we expect the same line of V8s to be offered in the U.S., as well as a giant V12 for the AMG version with enough juice to make the sauerest kraut smile.

Am I the only one who thinks all of MB's products are just "meh"? The last Benz I got excited about was the 190E. This goes for BMW's current lineup too, with the exception of the 120d hatch. The last great car they made was the Z/M coupe a decade ago.
