Welcome to Down On The Street, where we admire old vehicles on the streets of the Island That Rust Forgot: Alameda, California. It turns out that the '81 Strada we just saw was an old DOTS car with new paint.

The Strada post was already set to go and I think its new paint job looks good enough to showcase, so I decided to let it go live. Howzabout we check out an Alameda machine that hasn't appeared in this series? I shot this sharp-looking Futura last summer, when a gathering of old cars showed up at the tiki-est place in the world: Forbidden Island! A nice selection of vintage Detroit machinery was parked out front, including this '51 Dodge Wayfarer, this '59 Chevy El Camino, and a 1960 International Harvester B100 pickup.

This has got to be one of the greatest emblems of all time.

Of course it's got a 4-speed!

DISCUSSION
That is the most epic curb shot.
The Falcon could wring out 30mpg back then - does it really have to be that big a challenge to manage that now?
Maybe I need to go get a Falcon. Boy that'd look cool in the lot at work.
