“Of course it’s a real Mustang! The man at the dealership was very clear, honey.”

DISCUSSION

I realize Mustang aficionados often berate the Mustang II as “Not a real Mustang” but realistically speaking it was a better car than the 64 1/2 Mustang. It handled better, rode better, was quieter, got better fuel economy, and was more comfortable. Was it a muscle car? No. But then again, neither was the original Mustang. It became a muscle car, and it grew in size in the process.

I would rather have a 302 Mustang II than a 64-68 original Mustang with a 302. Not the detuned 70's 302 of course, but a proper 302. But that’s easy to accomplish.

Or better yet, a Cosworth DOHC 2.3L making a reasonable Turbocharged 300hp. (The Cosworth tuned Turbo Lima 4 was capable of over 600hp.)
