Here's Hundreds of Rotary Cars and Their Glorious Roar

The rotary engine, an engine whose mechanical novelty distracts from questions about its usefulness, revs extremely high and also lights money on fire. But we’re not here today to talk about its good qualities. We’re here today to see hundreds of rotary-engined cars in action. And at least a few doing some sick burnouts.

This all went down over the weekend at Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park in Rotokawa, New Zealand, which hosted a three-day event celebrating all things rotary. I’m grateful this happened for the Tremendous Content (TM) it’s produced, and, above all, the noise. This video is best watched with your headphones on, volume at 11.

Say what you want about two and three rotor Wankels, but man, once you hit four or more rotors, those things sound fantastic.
