The 2018 Honda Accord is not the kind of car where you longingly stare at your window and find excuses to go for a drive, but it does have a long (41 years!) history of being dependable, decent transportation. The carâs been remade into its 10th generation for the new model year, and weâre driving it this week. What do you want to know?
Honda reports that itâs sold 13 million Accords over the nameplateâs extremely long career, so the mid-sized sedan must be doing something right.
The new Accord, which is more like a fastback than a sedan, much to my incredulous colleague Raphael Orloveâs amazement, will be available with a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder rated at 192 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque with a CVT or, yes really, a six-speed manual.
Even more interestingly, a 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo that âshares much of its designâ with the one in the Civic Type R, detuned to 252 HP and 273 pound-feet of torque, is also available in this car.
Hmm... what was I saying about making up excuses to drive this thing?
Hondaâs launch press release has all the physical details and dimensions you might be interested in; the new carâs a little lower, a little longer-wheelbaseâd, and theoretically more volumetrically efficient inside.
But for everything else you might want to know, drop your questions in the comments and you know the drill: Iâll answer as many as I can here and in the review after I spend some time with the car.
