Good people of the Jalopnik community, we need your help. Tom, a reader, is expecting a baby boy with his wife at the end of the year. Yay! Problem is, they are having trouble deciding on a name. Being a person who enjoys the cars, Tom thinks that an automotive-based name would be neat.

So far, he’s come up with Otto, Rudolf and Atkinson.

He’s open to suggestions, but you’ll get bonus points if the name is German(ish) and/or is a Catholic saint’s name.


Jason suggested Ferdinand and Hans (Porsche and Ledwinka). Raph suggested August and Frederick (Duesenberg), Gottlieb (Daimler), Hans Herrmann (racing driver).

But just beyond Tom’s specific situation, what’s a good car-based name for an actual, human person who has to live with that name for the rest of their lives?
