Some people in the UK are protesting the new diesel emissions tests, saying that the requirement that the car be revved throughout its range of motion is hard on the engine. Okay, hosebags. C'mon. We mean, really. The rev limiter's there for a reason to prevent damage to the engine by spinning it too high. Says one "industry indider" quoted by the Belfast Telegraph: "Every time they rev an engine like that, they are endangering that car - particularly older ones, it is madness." Well, if the pile of crap's that delicate, it's probably spewing mad smoke, too. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
