With the trend toward adult hugeosity (a trend we fell prey to last summer and have since knocked into reverse), automakers are widening seats. On this, according to USA Today, Detroit was actually ahead of the curve, while the Japanese are playing catch-up. But even the Honda Civic, once diminutive and perhaps always the provence of weight-conscious sorority girls has grown three-quarters of an inch across the seat. Perhaps to accomodate the porky asses of the bro-hams who like to play boy-racer in the things. [Thanks to Clare for the tip.]
