The Indian government has taken wraps off its plan to have one million hydrogen-powered cars on the road by 2020. Not only that, but they're planning to build the capacity to generate 1,000 megawatts from nature's least complex element in the same time frame. The funding will come from a series of public-private initiatives, and while the two initiatives are called "the green initiative for future transport" (GIFT) and "green initiative for power generation" (GIP), the methods being looked at for hydrogen production aren't necessarily the greenest, although environmentally-friendly methods are being reviewed.
