While Japanese juggernaut Toyota seems to be expanding like Tetsuo at the end of Akira everywhere else in the world, the Japanese automaker faces a shrinking market at home due to the aging Japanese population. Looking to the recent launch of the Lexus brand in Japan to give it a profit boost, Toyota has also set up its own used-car company, and will concentrate more heavily on parts and service for existing vehicles to take up the slack left due to declining new-vehicle profits.
