This Modified Ford Thunderbird Was Handed Down Through Generations

The 1955 Thunderbird was Ford's answer to the Corvette. It had less European influence, and didn't quite obtain the same racing pedigree (and the Battlebird was pretty sweet.) It also outsold the Corvette of the era, though keeps a lower profile these days.

This week on Big Muscle, Mike Musto drives a modified T-Bird that's been in the same family for nearly 50 years. Having already been modified with performance and weight savings in mind, this particular 'bird was done over with a more updated, Boyd Coddington billet-esque look. I'm sure the choices will come under scrutiny by those with specific tastes in hot rods, but whatever you think of it, there's no doubt: It's very, very low.

The best T birds are the mid 60's space race ones. Best console/Dash of all time, in my book.
