The Porsche 911 GT2 is the most extreme of all the Porsche 911s, and the 993 generation is the one that started the trend of roided-up, rear-engined, rear-wheel-drive Porsche insanity. Like any barely-road legal car it belongs on the track, but somehow it looks fantastic on the street.
The 993 GT2 was actually given that moniker for a reason. Only 57 were built as a racing homologation special, with twin turbos, nearly 450 horsepower by 1998, and no all-wheel-drive safety net that its slightly slower cousin, the 911 Turbo, had. It's one of the few cars that I can genuinely say I'd be scared to drive fast. It's a tiny little car without all the slashes and gaping maws of the later models, and yet somehow it's probably the most threatening of the bunch.
Which makes it, indeed, ridiculously awesome.
