We're finally getting our first video look at the 2016 Mazda Miata MX-5. And wow doesn't that look almost good enough to eat? Yuuuum.

Honestly, I think the video really drives home that unfortunate truth that the 2016 MX-5 looks like a rabbit. This is especially true when you consider that the most likely license plate, at least in Japan, will be a white plate. This rather unfortunate fact (license plates that are white) defeats the purpose if the point is for the front end to look lean and mean.

All I see is a red angry bunny. A badass red angry bunny, but a bunny nevertheless. I don't really think bunny when I think kickass roadster. Maybe the killer rabbit from Monty Pthyon's Holy Grail, but anything else, probably not. Maybe that's why we are shown the car in red. Because BLOOD.

Hmm... I thought rabbits were supposed to be pretty fast creatures, but maybe that won't be the case with this rabbit? Oh, yes it will. Because who the hell wants a slow Miata?

Truth is, I really will wish we had film that included evidence of a hard top. I really like hard tops on two-seater roadsters. I've liked the various incarnations of the hard tops on the Miatas, but I also like Z3 and Z4 hard tops, and even those some people had on a Honda S2000.

But really... buck teeth? Can't we move the license plate somewhere else? If I bought a new Miata, why I'd have to call it Bugs.
