My heartfelt prayers are for the family and friends of Mr. Summerfield and to all who were affected by the tragedy. I respect the decision to continue on with the race, though I would have understood the decision either way.

I hope there are many more Lemons races to come, and look forward to hearing the many tales to emerge from them all. Perhaps, I'll come down to Toledo to watch the festivities at our local Lemons race.

ONSET (that 'effin Cavalier wagon...)

You guys were seriously quick in that agglomeration of Swedish and American and god knows what other iron. Bummer that you had some bad luck and a little funky team chemistry. An outstanding first go, and I'm sure you'll be out there again. People have figured this style of racing out somewhat by now, so there's a lot more competition at the sharp end.

I think after 5 races it's time to find another '87 Cavalier wagon, this one's a bit used up.

Here's a picture I got today that has your Volvo coming through the chicane. I had an awesome time running with you guys in my first Lemons event. I was driving the bright school bus yellow Taurus SHO. I drove the last hour of the race on Sunday and had a great battle with you guys for a while. Sorry about rear ending you, but you braked harder than I was expecting, we bounced off each other so much at the end...it was awesome. That was definately the high point of the race for me. Our car was automatic and we couldn't get it into first gear, so coming out of the left hander that led to the banking closest to the entrance to the track we were super slow until we got to the tires, then we'd come up on the cam and start flying. At one point I was in your doors on that turn, sorry if I caused you to get sideways like that, I was trying so hard to get around you guys. Thanks for the coverage of the race.

Murilee, thanks for the help today working on the car, sorry we broke and weren't able to mix it up with you guys out there. Team Porcubimmer will be back at Thunderhill, rocking the shit out of the 24 Hours of LeMons. Our "We Got Screwed" trophy, while it was classy and awesome, was no consolation for the fact that we should have won this thing.

Congrats you Team V8Volvo on finishing the race!!! You guys kicked ass out there.

Tragedies are an unfortunate part of racing regardless of level. What happened yesterday is validation of Hemingway's quote that only auto racing and bullfighting are real sports. I'm sure the dearly departed would have wanted everyone to press on, and you did well. The result is not just a good finish but a richly deserved level of respect for the man and yourselves. My heartiest congratulations to you and my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the departed.

Minor brag time: This morning, I took a nice long 2hr 42min run in the car, moved us up 20-some places, and I had second-fastest lap of the race overall until about an hour from the end, when two other teams took advantage of the slack in traffic to knock me back to fourth.

So we know the car has podium pace; next we have to make sure we have all the processes in place to make it happen. We had great drivers and spectacular help in the pits... next time fewer driver changes and just a few little niggles to sort out.

I'd also like to personally apologize to xargs in the Cavalier. My hit on you guys was inexcusable and I am very sorry for it; the other stuff that followed afterwards was 100% BS and it won't happen again on any team of which I am a part.
