I heard a loud bang and crunch ahead, and knew there was an accident that had just happened. Sure enough, a Lexus had wedged itself into the back of a parked SUV. After sitting there for a few minutes, the Lexus backed up and took off - hitting a pedestrian pretty hard before continuing to flee.

My point is that you can be anywhere and doing anything, and injury or death could strike.

Cort died doing something he enjoyed in the company of friends. While I mourn his passing, it appears his time was up. All the safety equipment in the world (and the LeMons safety requirements are as stringent as many racing clubs) isn't going to make a difference when the Lord decides to call you home.

As someone who has run in the LeMons twice, I would not hesitate to do so again.

His death in this event is a tragic happening to all. Court was a good and safe driver for sure. More importantly a good and hard working man with a great drive for life.

Today many if not all of the Lemons teams applied blue & orange #39 livery to our cars in honor of Cort. All my best to Cort's family and friends.

I've found that, as I get older, the things I enjoy most in life involve some degree of risk. Moments like these make me question wanting to race, but then I think about the risk/reward of getting into a car and driving to/from work, and it still makes sense mathematically.
