sounded like a flat-plane crank V-8. Nice- especially on the downshifts- but for the same money, I'll go find a lightly seasoned Aston Martin DB9 and enjoy the aural symphony even more....

I doubt Ferrari will enter the V6 market again- that's what Fiat is for....

@Adamskiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiy: I was thinking the exact same thing. Hasn't Ferrari been talking about more efficient, greener technologies? A turbo V6 would definitely be in line with that mentality. It would also explain the "Dino" (V6) and "California" (LEV) nicknames this car has been carrying around for a while.

@Adamskiy: Don't know, but depending on where the mike was, a turbo car probably wouldn't have such a crazy exhaust note. Also, has Ferrari ever done a car that wasn't NA?

@Duphman2: Maseratis are GTs, not entry level Ferraris. They are softer, quieter and larger (not to mention door-ier) than Ferraris. This is, hopefully, a smaller, more afforable, more agile Prancing Horse. Not the same thing at all.

My cynicism about multi-year waitlists for bazillionaires only is largely mitigated by the general Bruce of the engine noise. But those didn't sound like redline shifts to me. I expect this thing to rev to 9200 rpms or so, and I want to hear it driven in absolute anger.

Please, someone, break the embargo so that I can see what this stupid thing looks like and be done with it.

This puts me in a really bad position because on one hand as a massive car fan I feel that I should know about any new Ferrari, but at the same time I could give a damn about some car that I cannot afford, that will be completely mediocre looking, and that won't even be that technically interesting.

It is all of the above factors together that make the updates on this car pointless. I am interested in some mediocre cars that are not technically interesting if I can afford them, and I am interested in cars that I cannot afford if they have revolutionary designs or technology. This car fails all those criteria.

When the embargo expires or someone breaks it show us the pictures and drop the specs, this pandering to Ferrari with minute by minute updates on trivial details about a meaningless car is un-Jalopnik.

I was of the impression that Ferrari was going to pull a pricing sleight-of-hand with this one. They are going to price this above the F430, and price the mid-engined replacement of the F430 above this, making the GT the "entry-level" model.

This will undoubtedly be one very cool car, but I can't figure out for the life of me why Ferrari is building it. The sell everything they can produce. They are doubling capacity in Maranello, but even then they still couldn't satiate the citizenry of Dubai alone with 430, 599 and 612 models. Why utilize production for a lower profit margin? Is somebody else building this under contract, Maserati maybe?
