Would I have chosen some of those angles? No. Individually, the Weber's features are almost comical examples of what not to do. But as a whole, it just works. (Uh, to a point.)

Between safety, CAD and aerodynamics, car design has become a study in beige. Even supercars are utterly predictable.

The Weber is a flight of fancy. It isn't to everyone's taste, but it's certainly more interesting than what's out there.

OK, so the thing that makes this so bad, the thing that is really tragic, is that you can tell that SOMEBODY styled this thing. If they had totally gone for function over form then this would just be a tubular chassis and that's it. But someone, some hack of a joke of an engineer/designer, tried to design the surfaces and failed miserably. So all you guys saying you like it because its not trying to be something more than what it is... take a good, hard look at what it ACTUALLY is. A failed attempt at design. I mean look at that grill! Somebody put that grill on there thinking, "Wow, this is gonna look so cool!" They didn't even design the engine themselves! This is a crate motor with a carbon fiber wife-beater draped over it. It fails...

@drunkcanuck: Yeah, I'm going along with the amateur CAD explanation.

This thing would, amazingly, have actually been pretty difficult to draw in regular rendering terms, with all the compound curves and concave sections.

A crude CAD model where none of the surfaces were properly resolved, which somehow went straight into production, must surely be the only suggestion.....

@fr9kl: That's exactly what I'm saying. The Caparo could have more power forced induction, it could have moveable aero for better speed on the straights and still have better braking and cornering, it could have complete body work for lower drag vs. the pseudo open wheel design.

Sure you could argue that things like turbos aren't as nice to drive as NA cars, but you have to admit you're giving up power.

You might have arguments against moveable aero, but again you're leaving room for performance improvements.

No doubt this thing fell out of the ugly tree into the ugly lake and washed up on the ugly beach, but for having all the boxes checked this beats the Caparo.

Integral to this downforce is the air wedge design of the Faster One's front end with its near-vertical grilles and steeply raked windscreen that are said to strongly increase front axle stability at high speed." @Steel_ETC: The engine starts out as an LS7, so on its original form it's a 7.0 V8 that Weber then rebuilds and adds twin superchargers to. No idea of how much boost, though.

All of that being said, this thing is way uglier than any car needs to be. What is the point of building a Veyron fighter if nobody in their right mind would choose it over a Veyron?

I used to work in a record store. On my first day, the manager took me to the center of the store and gave a theatrical wave of his hand to sweep over the store's inventory. Then he said, "Every single one of these albums is somebody's favorite. Respect that."

For some reason, it's easier for me to take the high ground when the target is so defenseless. Sure the baby's ugly, but his Mom's right there, smiling, so you smile too. As much as I want to love this car for being the product of somebody's (or several somebodies') tireless labor and uncompromising vision, I just can't. Practically every variable is wrong. It looks like the designers channeled a 350Z and stuck a Z4 tail on it. The width of the car is exaggerated by the center concavity. The rear wheels look like they were patterned after spools of thread. The company's signature "moustache" grille looks even worse in black than it did in chrome--and it makes the red badge look like a zit.

There's no doubt that this will be in somebody's fantasy garage. It wouldn't be in mine if it could travel through time.
