There are some systems out there that cycle so slowly, and/or enter "ice-mode" at inopportune times so the hot (but slightly against the rules) ticket in autocrossing is to pull the fuse on the ABS. I'm showing how long it's been since I competed, but this was true of the early Neon ACR's and the Miata's, for instance.

But, that shouldn't be a problem in an R8.
