That being said, couldn't we just throw the front and rear from a Cadillac BLS on a Saab 9-3 convertible? It hasn't fooled Europe, but it might work on old people in Florida.

The reason there are so few four-door convertibles is that it's hard to make a folding roof that big - which explains the hefty price tag on this one. Also, torsional stiffness and side impact crash resistance are severely compromised when you chop off the B pillars.

@teargas - I'll need to agree with Adamskiy that the Toyota Solara is the official convertible for the AARP crowd, followed closely by the Sebring (usually obtained from Enterprise Auto Sales). It's been rough for them ever since GM stopped producing the Olds Cutlass Supreme Convertible in 1995.

@Sloop_John_B: The slight chrome curve at the top of the doors really does it. The taught-ness (tension?) of the CTS' styling is more apparent without the roof.
