Shelby has diluted the collector value of his name far too much to put any sort of wager on it- the guy has been dying from the same heart condition for the last 50 yrs, while pitching everything from chili to Omnis- while never showing the proper appreciation to Ford for not suing HIS ass for trademark infringement.</P>

		    <description><![CDATA[<P>Does this suprise anyone...<BR>Shelby brought out a slightly tweaked Mustang GT a little while ago, called it a Shelby GT (I think), and charged almost 50K for one.<BR>It had the same stuff, a few extra horses, stiffer springs, wheels... Basic stuff that shouldn't drive a cars price (pun) sky high. I don't know if Shelby has to sell these cars this high to make a profit, but if he does, why bother. 		    <description><![CDATA[<p>people will buy these as investments because they're a truly limited edition &amp; are an official Shelby manufactured product - Shelby is the manufacturer of record, not Ford.</p>
<p>some people will buy them &amp; track them - good on them, they seem to have been significant optimized for those conditions, within the context of stil being streetable.  a lot will end up in climate-controlled garages &amp; in parking lots at car shows &amp; cruise nights - too bad for the cars since they won't get used as intended.</p>
<p>the parts which make it a KR are largely unique for the car &amp; not available elsewhere (Shelby will not sell most of them w/o a VIN &amp; proof of the original parts being damaged/destroyed) so cloning one will be difficult if not impossible, protecting values.  the factory backing (&amp; full warranty) on the modifications along with the collectability are worth it to some people.</p>
<p>the car will be a success for Shelby &amp; Ford because of the limited volumes, even if it's not the choice for most of the rest of us.</p>
<p>if I had $700k to spend on a house for instance, I wouldn't buy a 4,000 sq ft mcmansion in the suburbs &amp; would end up in something smaller &amp; modern or giant &amp; old school in downtown Detroit.  my choice not being the conventional/right choice doesn't make it wrong, just different.</p> <p>dwp</p>]]></description>

So Carroll made some monster cars in the '60's, then sold his reputation for a buck in the '80's (Dodge Omni, anyone?),and now he's suing the Shelby Club of America over the use of his name (probably because he's not getting paid enough)...<br>
A blower, some new suspension bits, some stripes, and that stupid little snake logo..<br>
it's not the car that's objectionable(big, fast, stupid--what's not to like about that?)it's the arrogance of the man behind it, a man who thinks so highly of the Shelby marquee that he can continue dragging it through the muck, sacrificing what little bit of value and dignity remains after he's tried his best to strip it clean like a hyena on a gazelle, and for what? <br>
Some ass clown is buying one of these right now, which kills me.  <br>

<p>I'm not a Mustang fan, but I find it hard to dislike anything with this much power.</p>
<p>From one perspective, you can't afford to hate this car.  Let's say you're someone like <a href="#c5440139">cgates1</a>, and you go around talking about how bad the car is and then one day you have to line up next to one at the track.  Is anyone going to listen when you say "He spent $80 on that", or "It's still a Mustang"?</p>

<p>Yes, it has a proper drag-racing rear end and, unlike the GT-R and Corvette, looks quite good. It has a massive V8 with a bajillion pound-feet of torqe, and rear seats.  It's a real old-school muscle car.</p>
<p>And that's a problem.</p>
<p>Even though the Corvette Z06 has a more sophisticated transmission less suitable for drag-racing, a normally aspirated engine, and a much lower pricetag, it will blow past the Mustang in a quarter mile - the hideous styling is the cost of excellent aerodynamics.</p>
<p>And then there's the GT-R. A car that's got all-wheel drive, the same seating configuration, more horsepower, better weight distribution, better handling, and a magazine-measured 0-60 time a FULL SECOND lower. All for $10,000 less.</p>
<p>The Mustang is a budget muscle car for people that want a real V8 without the pricetag of a high-performance vehicle. Trying to turn it into one is futile - it will never be as good as its bespoke competition.</p> <p>Spasticteapot</p>]]></description>

<p>The Z06 and the Viper are both so much more credible, which, when you think about, is astonishing.</p>
