Porsche uses a similar steering wheel in the Boxster as well as the 911. The "bikini" wheel is the basic model and can be had with a slew of pushbuttons and coverings. The sport wheel has a round center and would probably have been more appropriate for the game gear.

@por-shuh: I find it odd that Porsche is so finicky about licensing to a definitive game like Gran Turismo but they have no problem putting their name on a schlock peripheral from Fanatec, and giving them the wheel out of a Cayenne no less?

Good luck using this wheel to steer your 911 around the track in GranTurismo 5 - there aren't any Porsches in the game. Guess you could use it in Forza 2, though.

The prototype version of this wheel that was sent out to testers had a lot of problems. They agreed that the wheel itself was better than the Logitech G25, but they had driver issues (not the person driving) and the pedal assembly sucked on all counts. All the testers agreed that the significant flaws of the wheel outweighed any advantages it held over the G25.

Considering that this unit is $100 more than the street price on a G25, I don't think Logitech will be losing a lot of sales since Fanatec didn't reinvent the wheel.

Look for the G25 replacement to come next year with the release of the full GT5.

Well, this actually has a clutch pedal. It's rare to find a wheel with a clutch pedal, and this even has a 6+1 gear pattern on the shifter. Now, if only you could find a game that supports those features...
