The siemens AC motor they're using needs a radiator for forced water cooling, which is why it has one there. This looks like it'll be pretty quick accelerating, but there's no way its going to go 124 miles if you actually, you know, accelerate quickly.
To the people asking about regenerative braking, it probably does have regenerative braking, because that motor/controller supports it with no extra work, but it would probably cause the batteries to explode if it was used to any meaningful extent

Does it have regenerative braking, I wonder. Not that you would need it since we're not trying to out-Prius or anything here.. But it would help with the range if it did.

@FreeMan: That's not a rad, it's a giant bug zapper! The car hangs out in fields zapping flies and such, then the giant bug zapper converts their charred remains into electricity charging the batteries! Pretty amazing stuff, really.

With the electric motor turning out that kind of power, liquid cooling may be needed. Even though electric motors are still very efficient, you're still looking at ~20% of those ~200,000 peak watts going straight into heat.

I'd be careful about purchasing one of these things, if I were you. It seems they may have gone the Unique Performance route. Witness:
the radiator* that looks like it's been wrapped around a tree, and the roll bar that looks like it's already been rolled (God help the passenger).

Silly Jalops: As a zero-emission vehicle, you could say the car is "green," because it doesn't seem to hurt the environment. They therefore show it in fields that are also green. Get it?

I know it's tough to wrap your head around: I don't think anyone has used that juxtaposition before. Then again, you guys did write that electrically witty "Shocking" headline (see what I did there?) That made me "LOL" ("laugh out loud" - get it?).
