It's got the 200 I6, too, an engine that proved it's worth via an '81 Mustang I owned- as opposed to the truly pathetic 2.3 I4 in the Fairmont it was my misfortune to also own at one time.

I like the SX4. It reminds me of the 1988 Honda wagon, with "Realtime 4WD"...

Anyway, back onto the Suzook, I think that's a great looking little car. Add some inspired marketing and that thing would be a great hit. (Just ask your daughter/wife what she thinks about it as a runabout, and explain that it's from an elite Japanese engineering company with a much deeper racing history than those standard Japanese companies like Toyota.)

Jalop is the weekday and weekend escape. Here's MY Saturday--want to swap Saturday stories before the other Gawkers get here to criticize us?
I was leaving to run an errand, I point to the left rear tire of Camry and tell spouse:
"That's the odd and oldest tire on the Camry and I'm going to get it replaced Monday on the way to work. It's got some uneven wear. I can feel it when I drive." Yes, I'm still delusional that my spouse will someday express an interest in a car.
I get in the Marquis instead, just inspected last week, and go about 4 blocks when it "casts a shoe" as my grandpa used to say. The left rear tire pops. Limp it into large parking lot. Call spouse. Call AAA. Yeah, there's a donut in the trunk but the jack's been gone awhile. Then see a tire dealer at far end of parking lot. Start to creep toward it (tire obviously shot but still on).

Suddenly the parking lot is full of helpful pedestrians, telling me "Hey! Your tire is flat!"

"Yes, yes, I know!" Friendly wave and then eventually--"Really? My tire's flat? Wow, isn't it lucky that I'm inching in the direction of a tire dealer!"

Tire shop says they can have it replaced in 15 minutes; I cancel AAA, which was going to take about an hour to get there.

Spouse arrives in Camry as I was calling to say, go back home, it's ok.

Spouse looks at Mercury and says, "Oh, the left rear. Just like you were saying."

"Uh, no, dear, that was on the Camry. Remember?"

"Oh. Well, the guy who inspected the Mercury said there was a nail in the tire."

"WHAT?"

"He said it was OK, though. It had healed itself."

"Even Jesus couldn't heal his own nail holes. He still has them in every picture. WTF are you talking about?"

"I'm sure I told you."

"No, no; I'm pretty sure I would have remembered that."

"Well they're going to fix it now, right? So I can go?"

It went downhill from there.

Some days I hate my life. But, ah, Jalopnik! A little single malt, a little Jalop and it's almost like it never happened!

aside from that... i do spend my weekends catching up on the stuff i slept through (generally hang out here before going to sleep (work third shift) but always miss a good amount of stuff.. and can't necessarily catch up on it before the weekend... when it all slows down...)

is this good? no.. i can figure out what i want to read or not pretty easily... but the downtime always causes me to read stuff that i don't really care about... except for my fellow commenters.. who generally make it worth reading..

@Starlton Heston: Correct me if I'm wrong, but this doesn't do anything that SYNC does, and vice versa. Also, I believe the SYNC trademark belongs to Microsoft, not Ford, so once the exclusivity clause of Ford's deal with Microsoft ends, other auto manufacturers will be able to offer SYNC and call it SYNC.

What happened to your weekend editor? This looks like the 3rd (or 4th, I lost count) that the regular crew is posting on the weekend. Last weekend, with Ray posting two stories, and having a lot of responses to each of them, proves that the Jalops tend to lurk around on the weekends, especially when it may be raining out.
