The discovery of more oil does not increase the supply. The pumping of more oil increases supply. And for the most part, the pumping is controlled by OPEC. Expect them to offer Brazil large shares of the quota to ensure they maintain the stranglehold on this resource. The OPEC countries have all but said they are intentionally keeping oil prices high because of the disproportionate affect it has on the US. They have all but said they are intentionally driving the US economy into the ground. Fuck OPEC. Fuck them up their stupid asses.

The Pre 1976 smog exception is rather current. I had a 75 Dart that required emissions testing, at least in 1997. It was loaded down with emissions crap. Trying to purchase any of those parts was like buying their weight in gold. If they really cared, they would just test the tail pipe. But no, the car had to pass a visual emission inspection too. Who cares what it looks like or whats there, as long as the tailpipe is at regulation limits. At some point it changed to 76 and prior. But now they are rumbling on changing that law again. California lawmakers have their heads way up their ass. In fact most would agree (non Californians) that California in general has their heads way way way up their asses.. I know first hand because I live here.

We've (a MAJOR company) been doing business with Brazil for about three months now on a big project, and it is the most petulant country I've ever had to deal with. The bureaucracy is absolutely impossible, and deliberately so. The officials have major penis envy also. They think they're doing you a huge favor by allowing you to spend a few days there, and if you point out that you're just trying to WORK, which is in everyones interest, they just make life all the more difficult (and maybe give you a speech about how the whole world wants to do business with the mighty Brazil). The crime is completely out of control (but don't mention that) and although the women are hot, AIDS has reached tremendous proportions there, so you don't want to touch them (but don't mention that either).

All in all, after this project is over, I will happily never return there, and I will also do whatever I can to ensure my company does no further business with them.
