This is really getting sick now. The Pew-Joe is hopeless, I mean why would you even care? Look at it. I love the creative spelling on the posting. Jeezus, the guy spelled the name worse than me. The 'Vette, in comparison, is Gothic in its hideousness. I agree with the previous poster, limp it to a Corvette Club event and watch them run screaming and/or vomit. Once again, I recommend lifting it 12 inches and adding GMC 4WD transfer case and Dana 60's to make really obscene, and of course flashy 36" wheels and tires.

I think I'll go with the Peugeot for a few reasons:
1) I used to work at a limo builder a few years back as a electrician. We built some pretty wild stuff, including a few stretched, armored Peugeot 605's. A stretched 'Vette just makes me yawn.
2) If we're gonna go for PCH, make it worth my while. Yeah, a V8, alright- made from 2 PRV V6's.
3) Unlike most French car owners here in the US, I actually understand written French. Take THAT, Lucifer.
4) I see the 404 is missing a lot of chrome trim. That just gives me a chance to sharpen my fiberglassing skillz.
5) And if it all fails, I believe the word 'hoon' is the same in French and English.

That Corvette is atrocious... It doesn't look designed as much as coagulated.

I think that the Peugeot needs a big kick-ass diesel - howzabout one of them Oldsmobile Diesel 350s? Engine of the day, I should think.

GM is also planning a new 300hp 4.5L V8 diesel, designed to fit into a small-block engine bay. Is it worth the wait or will the 404 have rusted away by the time the engine is available?

Had to be the vette for me. I doubt that thing wouldn't get a block without breaking in half. I don't think you could get any more hellish than skidding down a hilly street, screaming your fool head off, watching the tail end of your "car" loose it's race to the bottom of the hill where a trash truck awaits to shread what little flesh is on your bones upon impact.

Plus you can find 404s in the junkyard, I can't tell you when I last saw a 'vette in any yard. Front yards don't count.

A Peugeot is always going to be harder to restore than a Corvette. This particular 'Vette limo is a hideous abomination, but it's a hideous abomination for which one can procure any part needed. Parts availability is also good for the 404... as long as you can speak French. And wait a couple weeks for every part to be shipped from France. And when you contact the Motherland, make sure you don't mention the Chevy V8.

One small thought: The 404's stock 1618cc engine had hemispherical combustion chambers in an aluminum cross-flow head, and it was the first car under two liters to be available with fuel injection. As such, it should be obvious to any true Jalop that the only reasonable thing to do to this car is to give it an aluminum-headed, fuel injected 426 Hemi. With a little fabricating, we might even be able to keep the awesome column-shifted four-speed.

I had to go with the Vette. These Craigslist posters are really helpful. The most important information is all in caps - "NEEDS TO BE RESTORED." which implies that there was a time when it wasn't a total abortion and "LOTS OF POTENTIAL" but it doesn't say potential for what.

Anyone remember a couple of years back a little white lab-mouse had a human ear grown on its back? Twin-Vette kinda reminds me of that.
