@Rob P: like what Euromobile said, if your argument is that the Bond movies are more about product placement, you are a little late to the game. Goldeneye seemed to epitomize this concept when they only showed the BMW Z3 driving down a dirt road. The sad reality is that this is the case with almost all movies. I saw Will Smith's I Am Legend and it was abhorrent how obvious they made the Ford cars standout.

The Bourne movies, in this regard, were a breath of fresh air. it was less about the car and more about what he was doing with it.

@Rob P: Bond has driven a Citroen 2CV in a chase sequence before, so there's nothing extraordinary about using a Ka. In terms of storylines, etc. I'd say that the shark was jumped decades ago. The last Bond movie and this new one, hopefully, are a bit more sensible.

But it's a Bond movie, not some commercial or something. That's my point. It was in "Tomorrow Never Dies", I think, where Bond used the same Nokia cell phone to solve about 6 puzzles within 3 minutes and every time flashed the logo.

Theres a difference between being a commercial and subtle product placement.

My first car was a 78 Ford Fiesta (which I upgraded every time something broke; which was all the time) and I now have a 1990 Mazda 323 with all of 82 hp, its a blast to drive. I love shitboxes

he is still driving an AM in this movie, just not in every country he visits. it appears, and i'm not a marketing expert, that ford tries to sell cars that are realistically marketable to the country of showcase... in the movie above, Panama would be more likely to have a Ka spotted than the AM DBS.

you have to remember that this series has a huge international audience.
