Murilee, the story with that thing is it's my twice-totalled 99 civic, bought new by me in Ak. it is ugly, and was no longer my daily driver. because i bought it back from insurance after my last crash, there's no title: can't sell it. fixed it up so-so, drove it for 3 years, and parked it.

needed a way to get my bike to the drags. contemplated cutting the Civico up and making a trailer, and then i realized: why? it can be it's own self-propelled trailer, or "truck" as they're called.

number six: the bike is The Tinman. Alaska state champion drag bike last year, and the world's only wet nitrous Honda 919, and the world's quickest honda 919.

they let me take El Civico down the track one day after a brief shower to help dry the track. 216,000miles on car, original clutch, and it was 1/100 second quicker than a new mini. effin sweet...

I saw a very well done Lincolnero once at the Pate Swap Meet south of Fort Worth. It was, I think, a MK IV Lincoln in the front, including the entire front and rear passenger compartment, with a Ranchero bed grafted on behind the rear window. VERY well done. In fact, I looked at it from the front and back a few times and thought it was a stock Ranchero or Lincoln until I noticed that it was the same car. Finished in a nice dark Forest Green and the sides were seemless. I have VHS video of it, but no digital pictures, unfortunately.

Usually, I side with the home team on these types of polls. In this case, that would be the cars most related to something the familyhas owned/driven, since the only vehicles I've driven that had truck beds in them have been, well, trucks:

Hornetamino, Sierrachero (XR4Ti), Protegechero (Merc Capri 1.6).

In the end, I went off script and picked the NSUmino, because it looks so damn FUN!

I voted for the Corvair-amino after much soul-searching and deliberation, really only because I spent 3 of my younger years in Corvair Project Car Hell. What we should really do is use the official point scale to determine how Jalopnik each of these Caminos are, and rate them that way - though I think all qualify as off the charts. The Vair-amino rates a terrific 324 points!

We are partial to the -caminoization/-cheroization mashup of actual El Camino or Ranchero with corporate sibling cross platform body work.

Things like the Cyclonechero, the El Grandnatimino, the El 422, and the The X-Camino just look right and proper compared to the half arsed Bubba with power tools approach to "-caminozation" since proper parts and maybe even concessions to things like driveability and safety have been made. Plus it is sort of like playing what if.
