I have a technical question. I have crashed a few cars in my day (who hasnt) and you never forget that special sound that cruching metal and plastic makes. So does the price of the car change the sound it makes when it crashes? When you have decided to destroy something really expensive in a stupid method, can you tell the difference? Or does crashing a $200.000 plus exotic sound the same as say a Ford Escort? Comeon boys and girls, I know one of you know the answer...

@smart42: I prefer to think of the whole uncoordinated, incompetent, overmoneyed, idiot driver thing as a natural process.

You see, all these sweet hyper performing cars belong in the hands of enthusiasts, gearheads, hoons, etc. (folks like us), but we often don't have the money.

Rich, incompetent people buy these things as fashion accessories, then crash them, rag them out or just get bored of them. Then these orphaned supercars eventually make their way into the hands of determined wrench turners (either in parts or salvage deals) who reconstitute them into their old functional form, but at a much lower price.

I hope the R8 has a huge production run.
That means there will be much more of them to go around on the used/salvage market a few years from now.
