What is the point of this? It should only come with the 427 to put it above the Corvette, otherwise why bother? How many do they sell in the U.A.E. anyway?

Wow, I had just assumed this thing would slowly die off. Can it really be worth their while to dump more money into this car? In all honesty how many have you guys ever seen on the road? I could probably count them on one hand.

You've got your facts wrong!!!!

1. the XLR was the first to use the new frame and chasis then the Vette followed it over (standard model vetts) the ZR vetts use beefier suspension parts and are very different.

I suggest a trip to Bowling Green so you can "Do The Tour" and see the differences for yourself.

2. The pictures shown are a 2004 or 2005 standard XLR.
here's why:

The paint color, (which was dropped in 2008), wheels, grill, and interior are exacly the same and from what I can see so is the rear (under the covers).

Also, the GM Chairman stated in 2003 prior to the XLR launch that the XLR is not intended to be a head-to-head competitor with the Lexus, Jaguar or Mercedes lines. The XLR production volumes are intentionally low.

The last actual advertisement for the XLR was when the XLR-V was announced and the ad ran during the Super Bowl. So visability and volume are not on their agenda.

The rest of your writeup may be correct. But we'll al know in June/July.

This is still a stunning looking drop-top but it's too expensive and the interior was leap-frogged by other Cadillac and new GM products within a year. Considering how good the new CTS looks I have high hopes than the XLR makeover will make it a showstopper.

@graverobber: Faux grilles and scoops are truly mysterious, expecially on cars marketed to enthusiasts (like this and the Stang). They add nothing to the car while diluting its character and intention.

The most hilarious ones are on the new Focus. Holy God are they craptacular.

Different bodywork, different interior and different engine equals re-badge? Is an Alfa 8C a Maserati spyder re-badge? How about an M6 and an M5?
