I see what they were trying to do but they missed the mark. Also, what ever happened to affordable? The scirocco was always a slightly more expensive rabbit/golf. How about a no frills version for our market? They could market it like the Scion TC and it should sell. If nothing else, it's more interesting looking.

I've never seen such a uselessly small hatch opening.

Also, it does seem to have lost a lot of it's charm on its way to production. Seems longer, or narrower, or something.

I will bet 1 brazilian internetbucks that this thing never sees the light of day in the US, as long as the GTI and R32 and Eos are here already. I could, in theory, see an upmarket version replacing the R32 around the $30k price point, though, possibly with the Scirocco name (similar to the nostalgic "Rabbit" marketing scheme)

If it does, it will prove that VW are just complete idiots here. The Euro market has always commanded more models and far more engine choice (and higher prices). They've missed a lot of opportunity here, from not offering the Polo to failing to push the new tdi models out sooner (and thus being first to market, instead of competing directly with Honda next year. That should turn out well.)

All I've owned are VWs. Great cars, confusing company.
